Situation Â
Lis Argentis Corporation operated its Oracle EBS ERP on an on-premise infrastructure, which presented scalability limitations, high maintenance costs, and performance restrictions on critical systems. To optimize costs, improve performance, and ensure system availability, the company decided it needed to migrate to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), ensuring business continuity and the correct functionality of all modules, extensions and integrations.
The company’s migration objectives included migrating their Oracle EBS database and the payroll system database to OCI without affecting business operations and ensuring there was a contingency plan in place to minimize risks. It was also important to validate the correct operation of the financial, logistics, and payroll modules and their respective extensions. In addition, the migration objectives included ensuring the operability of all integrations with internal and external systems.
Action
1. Evaluation and Planning:
- Analysis of current infrastructure and systems.
- Design of OCI architecture with high availability and security.
- Test plan and rollback strategy to mitigate risks.
2. Database Migration:
- Use of Oracle Data Guard for real-time replication.
- Upgrade to the latest version of the database in OCI.
- Post-migration performance validation and adjustments.
3. Application Server Migration:
- Implementation of Oracle WebLogic and EBS on optimized instances in OCI.
- Functional testing of critical modules.
- Configuration of load balancing and failover.
4. Testing and Validation:
- Unit and integration testing of financial, logistics and payroll modules.
- Stress and load testing to ensure optimal performance.
- Optimization of concurrent execution performance, achieving a 30% reduction in processing times.
5. Go-Live and Post-Migration Support:
- System downtime was limited to just 4 hours, minimizing the impact on business operations.
- Intensive monitoring during the first few weeks.
- Training of the client’s IT team in OCI administration.
Impact
- 99% reduction in infrastructure and maintenance costs.
- 40% improvement in application and database response times.
- Performance optimization with processing times up to 30% faster.
- 99.9% availability with automatic failover and redundancy in OCI.
- Greater scalability and capacity for ERP growth.
- Reinforced security with Oracle Cloud best practices.
Thanks to Centroid’s + Qbit, a Centroid acquisition, strategic planning and meticulous execution, the migration from Oracle EBS to OCI was completed without disruption to business operations. Lis Argentis Corporation now has a modern, scalable, and secure infrastructure that supports its growth and improves operational efficiency. This case demonstrates the success of a well-managed transition to the cloud and its positive impact with regard to optimizing costs and ensuring operational continuity of critical business systems.
