Beckman Coulter Saves 35% by Migrating Back-Office Applications to OCI

Beckman Coulter is dedicated to advancing and optimizing the laboratory. For more than 80 years, they have been a trusted partner for laboratory professionals, helping to advance scientific research and patient care and have a vital role: their focus on innovation, reliability, and efficiency has led them to become the partner of choice for clinical, research and industrial customers around the globe.

Beckman Coulter Leverages Modern Technology

Beckman was looking to displace aging hardware but also wanted to be able to leverage modern technology along the way and find performance gains for its non-production workloads.

Through discussion, Centroid determined that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure would meet Beckman’s objectives. Not only would OCI provide an easy, nearly instantaneous “push-button” set up, it would also provide secure flexibility in the long-term for its back-office applications. To speed up the project even more, Centroid suggested that Beckman utilize Oracle’s Storage Cloud Service allowing them to continue to easily maintain its data retention requirements.

They were able to push a button and spin up their environments quickly

“Beckman Coulter was considering replacing its on-premises hardware, but knew that the model was not a long term direction they wanted and decided to pivot to the cloud,” said Jim Brull, Managing Partner at Centroid. “After Centroid architected their Oracle Cloud Infrastructure solution, they were able to push a button and spin up their environments quickly. That eliminated months of time off of migrating to new hardware and they were able to gain performance boosts while reducing software requirements.”

It took only weeks for Beckman to have the project near completion, including comprehensive testing and building a new cloud architecture. Not only does the system work perfectly, but the fast timeline and effective solution have also saved Beckman 35% over the effort of traditional, on-premises systems.

Plus, the cloud-based solution enables Beckman to eliminate the hassle of buying and managing on-premises licenses and infrastructure, which will save them from extra time and costs going forward.

“Centroid provided key cloud services, from cloud design and build-out to managed services, to ensure Beckman had exactly what they needed – fast. The incredible success and cost-savings of this project have led Beckman to scope and plan other cloud solutions with Centroid.”
