This is great news for many customers who want to maximize their investment from their ERP implementations while planning on a Release 12 or Fusion Applications upgrade or implementation later in the Release 11i Extended Support period.
Jim Brull, a managing partner at Centroid says “the waiver just puts off the inevitable for customers that are on 11i and that they still may face an urgency of upgrading to R12, especially for customers using EBS Payroll”. One of the big questions out there is: Is there an upgrade path from 11.5.10.2 to 12.2 and, if there is, when will Oracle share it with their customers. Also note, that there is no longer a direct upgrade path from Release 11.5.10.2 to Fusion Applications.
Earlier at Oracle Open World, Oracle waived the first year of Extended Support fees for its E-Business Suite 12.1. That gave customers until May 2015 before an annual Extended Support fee increase is required. See details about the announcement on the Oracle EBS Techstack Blog
